What is Engili Poola Bathukamma?
Bathukamma, meaning "Mother Goddess come alive," is a flower festival celebrated by the women of Telangana in honor of Goddess Gauri. Engili Poola Bathukamma marks the very first day of the festival, when the season's first flowers are gathered and arranged into a beautiful, layered stack. Families and friends gather in a circle, singing traditional folk songs and dancing around the Bathukamma before it is carried in procession - a joyful expression of nature, devotion, and togetherness.
